1RESO Roundtables – informal, hourlong, small-group conversations – have been a regular feature during RESO spring and fall conferences for many years. Roundtables are rarely held around tables anymore, let alone round tables, but the term is meant to convey the spirit of group participation that comes from facing each other in a circle.

The Real Estate Network of Empowered Women (RENEW) by RentSpree has been hosting a RESO Roundtable since 2023, offering lively and well-attended sessions, and the 2025 Spring Conference in Tucson, Arizona, was no exception.

Their theme was “The Power of Leading a Positive Lifestyle,” which involved reflections upon recent achievements, expressing gratitude, thinking positively, reframing negative thoughts, turning self-doubt into confidence and celebrating opportunities for growth.

The two key takeaways that RENEW representatives felt were most important included:

  • Practicing gratitude. Reflecting regularly on what you are proud of and thankful for fosters a mindset of appreciation and confidence.
  • Reframing challenges. Shifting your inner dialogue helps to find the positive in everyday struggles.

RENEW roundtables, in particular, provide a nice reminder that not all of what RESO does is in the deepest weeds of a Confluence discussion forum or GitHub pull request.

Yes, staff and volunteers work on complex data standards, certification rules, identifier products, white papers, case studies, educational courses and informative conference presentations. But people are at the heart of what the organization collectively works on. Making things better and easier for more people to participate in the real estate industry is at the crux of what RESO does, and it’s a lot easier to achieve greatness with greater mental fitness and relatable conversations.

Many thanks to RENEW for adding human value to RESO conferences. While our technical content remains extremely popular for those who know the difference between JSON format and RESO Technical Product Manager, Jason Darrough, there is massive appeal for more nontechnical topics that motivate conference attendees in other aspects of their businesses back home.

If you have a roundtable topic that you would like to suggest for a future RESO conference, please share. Presentation submissions are being accepted until August 31 for the RESO 2025 Fall Conference being held in Louisville, Kentucky, October 21–23.

2RESO adds topics from its list of goals and objectives, but roundtables can be just as much by you as for you. Here are some past roundtable topics driven by volunteers that were at one point outside of RESO’s product domain:

  • Days on Market Metric and Methodologies
  • APIs
  • Business Issues
  • Broker Technology and Data Aggregation
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Association Management Systems (AMS)
  • Add/Edit
  • International Real Estate
  • Front End of Choice
  • Data Security
  • Smart Homes and Internet of Things
  • Housing Market Dynamics
  • Rental Data
  • JSON Payloads
  • Modular MLS Technology
  • Commercial Data
  • Energy Efficiency in Real Estate

While there will always be topics for the technically inclined, RESO is open to other content in its quest to make the real estate data ecosystem more accessible and easier to understand while creating pathways for real estate professionals to learn and grow with each other.
