Allan Shepherd is a veteran software engineer, spending 13 years at HP Labs, Palo Alto on R&D for database, OIS, AI, CSCW, and distributed object systems, then 15 years in Silicon Valley startups. Allan has published papers at SIGMOD, CSCW and other conferences, and served as a program committee member and workshop organizer at AFIP and ACM conferences on Upper Layer Protocols (ULPA), Organizational Computing, and Open Distributed Processing. Allan has lived and worked in England, Japan, Papua-New Guinea, Australia, and Argentina.
