New Subgroups / Online Voting
New Subgroups
Several new subgroups have sprung up this spring, so in lieu of our monthly Product Updates feature, we are introducing you to them. Email dd@reso.org if you would like to participate in any of these subgroups.
ActivityPub Subgroup
This group (under the Transport Workgroup) will evaluate how to use ActivityPub to implement a resolution protocol for the RESO Unique Licensee Identifier (ULI), as well as how it can be used to provide interoperability throughout the listing lifecycle. ActivityPub has recently been discussed in the Interoperability Workgroup, including its emphasis on protocol over platform – a focus on open, decentralized systems built upon protocols. This shift in focus offers greater flexibility by allowing different systems to interact with each other with less customization required.
Duplication Subgroup
The goal of this subgroup is to identify, classify and define duplication in the Data Dictionary. The group will also identify duplication that remains useful to retain, the existence of which should be clearly communicated to users. Any recommendations for deduplication, a method to communicate duplication or other changes will be sent to the Data Dictionary Workgroup.
Global Subgroup
This group will identify areas of the Data Dictionary where enhancements to facilitate international use may be made. The group will then submit a proposal for any additions or changes to the main workgroup for approval. See Data Dictionary Global Subgroup Proposal for further information.
Here are two current requests related to international use of the Data Dictionary:
- Currency Types and Currency Conversion for International Markets
- Proposal for Energy Performance Certificates for the EU in the Data Dictionary
Multi-Select Lookups Subgroup
Many fields have lookups that could go together or stand on their own. Example fields include PatioAndPorchFeatures and Flooring. Example lookups include Porch, Patio, Screened which could be Screened Porch or Screened Patio. Data consumers do not know whether individual lookups go together. This subgroup will identify all fields with these instances and make recommendations to address them.
New Construction Subgroup
The goal of this reformed subgroup will be to add data elements to better convey new construction-specific information. The group will address the New Construction Development Data Elements and New Construction Data Fields business cases from the R&D Workgroup. Metadata from construction-focused organizations has been obtained.
Move to Online Voting
A system to vote asynchronously on Data Dictionary proposals is being developed. This will replace or be an addition to the typical Zoom voting done during meetings or live conferences.

Global Standards Decoded: Why MLSs in Paris and Beyond are Choosing RESO Standards
Open standards that cross borders are everywhere. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, PDF and USB are just a few examples of open standards that people and companies use in their day-to-day business to interact with others. They provide a transparent set of rules for the parties to operate within, and they increase the trust and efficiency of transactions. RESO’s standards make this possible for real estate technology everywhere.
Certification Update
France’s premier real estate association, the Syndicat National des Professionnels Immobiliers (SNPI), became the first MLS in Europe to be fully certified on Data Dictionary 2.0 and Web API 2.0.0. Representing nearly 15,000 member organizations working as agents, property managers, trustees and negotiators, SNPI’s certification establishes the organization as a data powerhouse in the international marketplace.
The MLS’s 120,000 active listings will now be available in a format that is translatable to any language and accessible via a standardized API in any market in which SNPI chooses to do business. It’s a remarkable achievement on its own and a symbol of the broad growth in demand for global real estate data standards.
The following organizations also recently achieved Data Dictionary 2.0 certification:
- Adirondack-Champlain Valley MLS
- California Regional Multiple Listing Service (CRMLS)
- Doorify MLS
- Global MLS
- Hernando County Association of REALTORS®
- MLS United
- Mid-Kansas MLS (Prairie Land REALTORS®)
- Multiple Listing Service of Spartanburg
- Northwest Indiana REALTORS® Association
- Pike/Wayne Association of REALTORS®
- realMLS (Northeast Florida Multiple Listing Service)

Several action items were identified for the main Data Dictionary Workgroup regarding Commercial, Business and Auction-related lookups, along with Modular Homes. | NOTES
