RESO workgroups offer not just a front-row seat to the evolution of real estate technology but a hand on the steering wheel. These volunteer-driven groups direct every major standards advancement in our industry. They turn ideas into specifications, pain points into solutions and emerging challenges into shared progress. This is your chance to help lead a workgroup to make a direct impact.

Why Join a RESO Workgroup?
RESO workgroups bring together MLSs, brokerages, technology companies, associations and subject matter experts to build the standards that power interoperability across real estate.
Every contribution – whether a comment, a use case or a full proposal – helps move the industry forward.
Workgroup activity is shared regularly in RESO Monthly and Product Updates, two newsletters that keep the community informed about progress and upcoming discussions. Deeper participation happens in the RESO Workgroup Collaboration System, where members actively discuss standards formation and change.

Two New Groups Need Early Contributors
Two new groups are forming this year, each tackling foundational challenges that will shape RESO standards for years to come.

Paul Stusiak
Identifiers Subgroup – Chair: Paul Stusiak
This subgroup is taking on a major structural update: integrating the Unique Organization Identifier (UOI) and Unique System Identifier (USI) into RESO standards. Their work will include:
- Designing a new Organization data model to replace the OUID Resource
- Defining a System Resource with an ID, name and essential attributes
- Ensuring consistent UOI and USI implementation
- Supporting clearer identification of organizations and systems
If you care about data clarity or system interoperability, this subgroup needs your voice.

Dan Troup
Schools & Geographies Subgroup – Chair: Dan Troup
This subgroup is focused on one of the most requested areas of standardization: geographic and school data. Their mission includes:
- Standardizing cities, subdivisions, counties and postal code requirements
- Establishing consistent school data fields
- Using external data sources for accuracy and alignment
- Reducing duplication and inconsistency across markets
This work will directly impact search, analytics, consumer experiences and cross-market data alignment. If you have ever struggled with mismatched city names or inconsistent school fields, this is your chance to help fix it at the standards level.
