Certification & Data Standards

Annual Report Images 2Data Dictionary 2.0 certification now covers over one million MLS subscribers, representing 63% of all subscribers in the United States. To support this scale, RESO added 70,000 new data mappings to certification testing for Data Dictionary 2.0 and completed coding for 500,000 additional mappings that will power testing for Data Dictionary 3.0.

A new policy governing MINOR and MAJOR versions of the Data Dictionary was ratified, providing clarity for future releases and certification changes. The Data Dictionary Workgroup also introduced virtual voting, extending participation beyond the traditional 90-minute meeting window and increasing member engagement.

RESO’s standards ecosystem expanded in other key areas as well. The Universal Parcel Identifier (UPI) saw real-world implementation by major tech entities, including Cotality. The EntityEvent and Webhooks standards were also implemented by several companies, including FBS, Constellation1, Realtors Property Resource (RPR), ICE and Rental Beast.

New Data Dictionary resources were approved for bulk sales and Accessory Dwelling Units. Subgroups added depth to new construction, global considerations and eliminating data duplication, ensuring that RESO’s standards continue to grow in scope and impact.

Education

REDEducation was another major area of growth. RESO has added to its stable of Working with Real Estate Data courses, bringing courses for Canada (RED-CA) and technical professionals (RED-T) into the fold to join its flagship course for business professionals (RED-B).

RED-B reached 1,523 registrations, RED-CA garnered 109 registrants and RED-T had 72 preregistrations before launch. In addition, participation in the RESO Summer Camp series rose by 25%, underscoring the appetite for accessible, high-value education.

2026 Goals

Looking ahead to 2026, expanded sponsorship opportunities will open to the industry across its event and product line.

RESO will release RESO Analytics 4.0.0, publish Data Dictionary 2.1 on a new site and complete automated self-certification capabilities for MLS vendors.

The RESO Desktop Client and Sandbox Servers will be released, and the Commander and Certification Utils will be consolidated into a single core library.

Data Dictionary 2.2 and 3.0 will not be too far behind, nor will a French version of RED-CA and several other improvements to existing products, such as the popular Unique Organization Identifier (UOI).

RESO is a not-for-profit that thinks like the technology-forward companies that make up its membership, and we have that membership to thank for keeping us on the cutting edge.
