Speaker: Greg Moore, VP-Technical Systems, Regional Multiple Listing Service (Workgroup Chair)
The RESO Research and Development workgroup (a.k.a. the R&D workgroup) is a collaborative collective of Real Estate technologists, Association and MLS staff and Brokers who review suggestions from the Real Estate industry at large and vet them for inclusion in the standard. The group helps prioritize these suggestions and is the top of the funnel for substantial new efforts at RESO. We have a Go-To-Meeting web and phone meeting every month to discuss issues being worked on. But even if you can’t make every monthly call, call agendas and minutes are maintained online, and we often solicit input on the current issues in the online discussion group, so you can participate whenever you have time. A desire to improve the standard and an hour or two a month is all that is required to be a R&D workgroup member, we strive to maintain a diverse group of professionals to contribute to the online discussions to ensure we focus on issues and pain points as well as improvements and efficiencies to the RETS standard and RESO.

9:00 AM - 10:30 AM - The MLS of the Future

Looking to the future of algorithmic business processes, artificial intelligence becoming a viable reality, block-chain, iOt, hyper-personalization, predictive analytics, and mobile-only access, what does an MLS of the future look like? If you could design (redesign) your MLS today to take advantage of these technical assets and opportunities, what strategic and tactical choices would you make? Why does this matter to your broker, agent, and consumer constituents? This interactive session will delve into these issues with the goal of giving you a roadmap to the future.

11:00 AM - 11:30 AM - Learn How Using RESO compliant Web APIs to distribute IDX data helps everyone in the value chain: MLS software providers, MLSs, Brokers, Agents and Consumers

MLSs save time, money, and reduce liability using APIs to provide IDX access to their members. Brokers and Agents get a better IDX website, that costs less, is setup faster and works better than IDX websites built using RETS. Consumers get more accurate, up-to-date complete property listing information when it comes directly out of the MLS database from an API.

At the heart of it, data standards help two entities communicate with each other by creating a common language and reducing complexity. In Real Estate, the initial implementation and data mapping associated with MLSs changing vendors and back-end systems can be tedious and time consuming to re-implement.This has the potential to create downtime and requires resources to modify and implement. Realtor.com will demo an open source mapping solution that leverage standards to solve this common challenge and leans heavily upon the RESO Data Dictionary to make this quick and efficient.
