2019 RESO Board of Directors Nominations

The nominations for the five open seats on the 2019 RESO Board of Directors has closed and nominees can be reviewed at the bottom of this page.  The RESO Board of Directors is responsible for the governance of RESO and development of the organization’s Strategic Plan. 

 

The seats that are available in this election are:

  • One (1) Class B (Technology partner) revenue over $25 million annually.
  • Two (2) Class C (MLS) with fewer than 50,000 subscribers.
  • Two (2) Class D (Real Estate Brokerages, Brokers & Agents) licensees.

 

*All Candidates for the Board must be a representative of a RESO member organization.

 

Election Timeline:
  • November 29th – Elections Open
  • December 16th – Elections Close
  • December 19th – RESO members notified of results

Prior to ULedger, Pete has held executive roles at many software and technology companies. Most recently, Pete served as SVP, Professional Services and Customer Success for Balihoo, a marketing automation software company focused on the scaling of local digital marketing campaigns. Pete has a degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia.

Ashish Antal is the Architecture Director at MLSListings. He has an entrepreneurial spirit and enjoy mentoring software engineers on best practices, code quality and architectural vision. He works closely with his engineering team and industry partners to innovate, architect and deploy cutting edge technology solutions for real estate professionals. He is also an accomplished programmer with development experience in .net, c#, c++, node, react and SQL Server. I also has a deep understanding of open standards such as HTTP, SAML, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, OData, CSS and HTML . Previously, in his engineering director role, He managed a team of software developers, quality assurance engineers and mentored many new hires at MLSListings.

Mark Bessett

Mark Bessett is an Engineer and Architect currently serving as the Workgroup Chair for the Universal Property Identifier. Mark holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Aerospace Engineering. Mark is experienced at solving large, complex engineering software problems primarily in integration, from spacecraft to microcontrollers. Mark has been engaged in the real estate problem space since 2013, currently as Senior Enterprise architect at California Regional Multiple Listing Service.

Colin Clay

Colin manages the data and infrastructure team for Bridge Interactive in Vancouver BC. For the past five years, Colin has been building scalable, cloud based solutions for Bridge. He is passionate about leading development teams and finding simple solutions to complex problems. Still scarred by his first exposure to real estate data, Colin is determined to create pain free interfaces for developers.

Joshua Darnell
Chief Architect, Real Estate Standards Organization

Josh is the Chief Architect for RESO as well as the Founder & CEO of kurotek, a consultancy specializing in Real Estate technology. He started at Homeseekers on the XMLSWeb product in the late 90’s, and got involved with RETS while at Heartland MLS. He laid low in the industry for a few years, working as a Bioinformatics researcher and consultant while studying Computer Science and Engineering at UC San Diego, but returned to the Industry and Standards full time working at FBS a while back. He recently co-authored the Validation Expressions proposal (RCP-019) with Paul Stusiak.

Josh lives in San Francisco and attends UC Berkeley, studying AI/ML and Data Science. Lately he’s been working on Data Replication, Business Rules, and ML backends, as well as building tools for RESO.

Sam DeBord is CEO of the Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO). He has served in a wide range of industry leadership positions including as President’s Liaison for MLS and Data Management with the National Association of REALTORS®. He sits on the Board of Directors for NAR, Second Century Ventures, and CRMLS. Previously, he worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers in management and technology consulting. DeBord is also a recognized real estate industry writer for REALTOR® Magazine, Inman News, and the Swanepoel Trends Report.

Craig Foley is the founder of Sustainable Real Estate Consulting Services, a LEED Green Associate and chief sustainability officer for LAER Realty Partners. Craig’s combination of real estate and energy management skills give him a unique perspective about sustainable energy solutions and subject matter expertise on greening the MLS and high-performance home valuation and marketing. As a real estate broker, he has sold several high-performance projects in and around Greater Boston. He is the team leader of REthink39 Group. REthink39 is devoted to lowering the 39% of U.S. energy consumption attributed to the built environment and believes they can be part of a solution with every transaction closed.

As a real estate consultant, he has partnered with a broad range of companies including Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratories, Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships, Elevate Energy, and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center. Craig was one of five people in the U.S. to receive the EverGreen Award by the National Association of Realtors (NAR) in 2013. He also serves as an advisory board member for the NAR Green Resource Council and is a certified instructor of the NAR Green Designation. His committee work at NAR includes chairing the Sustainability Advisory Group in 2019. He also serves on the Energy Advisory Council for Fannie Mae.

Meg Garabrant is the Director of Marketing & Communications at the NEREN MLS. She is chair of the CMLS Green Section Council, launched the first solar power production (PV) data auto-population into the MLS, and has served on various work groups and task forces around home performance information data initiatives including NAR’s Sustainability Advisory Group. She has served on the Data Dictionary and Payloads Workgroups, and is an advocate for advancing awareness and education on the importance of home performance information as part of the real estate transaction process.

David Gumpper

David Gumpper created the Gumpper Group as a real estate technology consulting firm and joined the WAV Group in January of 2018 as a Partner and VP of Technology Consulting.
During David’s 24 years as a technologist, he has managed information technology platforms for the University of Dentistry and Medicine of New Jersey, Ricoh Corporation, and Novartis Pharmaceuticals before moving to Florida in 2003. David joined Michael Saunders & Company, Sarasota, Florida, in 2003 as Director of Information Technology to structure a customer driven technology division. David later was named Chief Technology Officer by the company.
Since 2013 when David obtained his Florida real estate license, he has taken part in various committees and advisory boards with the National Association of Realtors®. Currently, David is a member of the NAR Leading Edge Advisory Board.
David has continued his contribution to the industry when appointed as a member of the Leading Real Estate Companies of the World’s Marketing Technology Advisory Council in 2012. His contribution to this council lead to his appointment as vice chairperson in 2015 and then as chairperson in February 2016.
In 2017, David took part as a member of the Real Estate Standards Organizations (RESO) Board of Directors. After a year on the board, David volunteered to chair the RESO Brokers Advisory Group for 2018.
David currently lives in Bradenton, FL with his wife Kelly. David’s one son, Ryan, is a PhD candidate in Chemistry at Georgia State University, and his second son, Evan, is continuing his undergraduate studies at University of South Florida.

            As Chief Technology Officer for MRED, Chris Haran is responsible for driving the strategic vision of a leading MLS organization through technology, and bringing together people, ideas and resources to be innovators.

            Prior to taking on the CTO role, Haran worked his way up through various levels of the marketing and operations departments on the real estate brokerage side of the industry. In supporting agents in their quest to adopt new technologies, Haran learned how to break down disruptive concepts into why they mattered to future business and helped to overcome the fear of the new.

            In his current role, Haran will use customer demand discovered through focus groups and industry insight to deliver the products and services and develop the strategy to keep MRED at the forefront, including the evolution of the top-rated MLS system, Connect MLS. In addition, MRED will be stepping up their Research and Development efforts, looking into applications for blockchain, voice recognition, artificial intelligence and much more.

            Haran earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2005. His most watched shows include Cars, Cars 3, Dinosaur Train and Little Einsteins. Yes, he and his wife have a toddler.

            Umesh Harigopal

            Dr. Umesh Harigopal is the Co-founder and CEO of PropMix.io, an AI based real estate data & insights focused on empowering brokers/agents and appraisers. PropMix also provides solutions based on its insights to simplify real estate transactions. Prior to leaving Freddie Mac and starting PropMix, Umesh has held research, consulting, delivery, and entrepreneurial positions in Financial Services on Wall Street, Healthcare, and Telecom. He has extensive experience in advising and investing in real estate and technology startups. His successful businesses include mid-90s community portals, pharmacy claim adjudication, and healthcare billing. Umesh has a Masters and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Alabama with a research focus in Natural Language Processing, Neural Networks, and High-Performance Computing.

            Cass has worked in Real Estate Technology for that last 20 years. He attended his first RETS conference in 2004 and is still gets confused about how bathroom count and Days on Market work. He began working in Real Estate Technology for Windermere Real Estate in 1998. He has been the Director of Data Services at MoxiWorks for the past 8 years. The Data Services group at MoxiWorks is responsible for data licensing, data warehousing, business intelligence and supporting over 300 MLS feeds.

            David Heslam
            Executive Director, Earth Advantage Institute

            David Heslam is the Executive Director of Earth Advantage and has been a national leader in the effort to develop and deploy energy labeling systems into the residential market. This work began with the conduct of the 2008 Energy Performance Score Pilot with the Energy Trust of Oregon and has continued through work with Earth Advantage in the implementation of energy labels in 16 states.

            Heslam gained insight into the need for energy labeling during the 15 years he spent designing, building, and remodeling homes in Portland, OR. His award winning company, Coho Construction Services Inc., became known as a local and national leader for adopting new technologies and striving for high levels of sustainability.

            Heslam’s work at Earth Advantage has included the development of software, research into the effectiveness of energy audits, research into the feasibility of labeling systems, research into the valuation of green and efficient homes, plus education for contractors, REALTORS and appraisers about high performance homes.

            When not working to make buildings better, David and his family can be found hiking and camping throughout the northwest’s unparalleled landscapes or paddling and rowing down it’s wild and scenic rivers.

            Chris Lambrou

            Award-winning software architect, a customer service activist, an IT project leader, an accomplished musician (in his own mind), a baseball enthusiast and daddy of two (the most challenging task of all)… currently the CIO of Metro MLS in Milwaukee, WI.

            Past accomplishments include an IT Leadership award from SearchCIO-MidMarket.com (TechTarget) for his work on the Fannie Mae Short Sale Assistance Desk software platform. Expediting short sales for thousands of families via MLS solutions nationwide.
            Responsible for designing MLS support operations leading to several “Top Call Centers in America” awards from Benchmark Portal/Purdue University.

            Rob Larson
            Chief Information Officer, California Regional Multiple Listing Service, Inc.

            Rob Larson is the Chief Information Officer of the nation’s largest Multiple Listing Service, CRMLS. His background in technology spans over 30 years and includes AT&T Broadband and Landmark Theaters. Rob is the Workgroup Chair and Editor of the RESO Data Dictionary. He is the Treasurer for Build It Green and on of the Board of Trustees for Carden Arbor View School. Rob was an original architect of CARETS and GreenTheMLS.org, studied Composition and Arranging at the Grove School of Music, is currently a performing bass player and is looking forward to jamming with Chris Lambrou on some U2 tunes or maybe something more progressive, but is really not that picky.

            Gregory Lemon is the Certification Project Manager for Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO).
            He assists RESO Workgroups in defining certification processes for RESO Standards. He also leads the testing of certification applications and helping applicants with questions.

            He has over 15 years of experience in a variety of industries including Mortgage Lending, Real Estate Title, and Multiple Listing Services. He has been with RESO since August 2013.

            Mark Lesswing
            Blockchain Entrepreneur, Lesswing

            Mark Lesswing is a Blockchain Entrepreneur who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University. He started programming robots just out of college and in 1988 began working with object-oriented programming. Mark has worked for large database vendors such as Sybase (as a startup) and Oracle spending a summer in Europe setting up international operations. In 1992, he launched his own consultancy and was involved in corporate turnarounds.

            Mark joined the National Association of REALTORS® in 2001 and as the Chief Technology Officer a tenacious advocate for data standards and innovation. He is a frequent speaker at major trade conferences and is listed in the International Who’s Who of Information Technology and the National Register of Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals.

            Having grown up in Buffalo, New York, Lesswing also has lived in New York City and San Francisco. Currently, he resides in Chicago with his wife, Susannah, and their three children., and their three children.

            Greg began his Real Estate technology career in 1986 at the Santa Barbara Board of REALTORS and Multiple Listing Service to install and manage an in-house MLS system. After 6-years he moved on to East Bay Regional Data (EBRD) for 7-years to manage operations and technology for a 10,000 member, 6-MLS regional. He then spent 2-years with HomeSeekers.com developing and deploying one of the first Internet-based MLS systems.

            Greg has been at RMLS for over 16 years. As Chief Technology Officer, he provides leadership and general oversight of RMLS’ technological goals and activities. He facilitates the technical requirements for systems development, hardware services, network communications, and management information services to accomplish the company’s goals and objectives.

            Madeline Salzman is a Residential Energy Fellow in the U.S. Department of Energy (U.S. DOE)’s Building Technologies Office (BTO). Madeline focuses on U.S. DOE’s Home Energy Score™, a tool to bring accurate home energy information at low cost to American families and the real estate market. She also supports BTO with analysis on workforce training, STEM education, and grid-interactive efficient buildings. Prior to joining U.S. DOE, Madeline worked on residential energy issues in India, Arkansas, and Missouri. Madeline holds a BA from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master of Public Service from the Clinton School of Public Service.
